The Elaine Wolf Theatre Construction Update – Week of January 23, 2012
The excitement mounts. We are just beginning to glimpse the colossal changes as the building really takes shape. As the infrastructure phase slowly comes to a close, the outline of our new space whets our anticipation for the elegance to come. It is truly an amazing time.
We have not taken time to offer our gratitude to our amazing construction company, Foothills Commercial Builders, and the hundreds of subcontractors who continue to toil away in shift after double shift in our dark and unheated construction zone as we race toward completion. Thanks for all you do for us.
Last week we finished most of the drywall installation and set in the large electrical panels and new dimmers to handle the theatrical lighting. We also began work on our sound system installation and began the acoustical ceiling tiles and completed the tile in the lobby bathrooms.
Planned work this week includes continued installation of our solid walnut wood paneling in the lobby, completion of the all drywall and beginning to paint the interior of our elevator tower – as well as a host of projects on the new mezzanine level and theatre interior.
GENERAL PROJECT INFORMATION:
We are delighted to announce that we have received a significant gift from Elaine Wolf for a major renovation of our mainstage theatre space. The renovation will include a new mezzanine level (adding about 110 seats), a fully accessible row in the orchestra, new stage floor, new electronic marquee, new lobby, new lighting and sound equipment and much more. Work began in the summer of 2011 and continues through early 2012. A reminder that we are open for business during the entire construction period!!
As many may already know, our completion date for the theatre has been slightly delayed. It was our hope to open our new facility with our terrific film festival followed by our children’s theatre production prior to our official grand opening in March. Due to a delay in pouring the concrete for our mezzanine, we have decided to move our film festival to another venue to insure the best preparation for one of our most important events. Patrons should note that we are moving our film festival to the elegant Denver Film Center on Colfax (home of the Denver Film Society). The festival will take place on the same dates with some slight adjustments to some film start times. Check the website or contact the box office for complete details (303-316-6360). This change will in no way affect our official grand opening which is still scheduled for March 24, 2012. We deeply appreciate your understanding and support.
We are excited to announce that our theatre grand opening event will be held on Saturday, March 24 and feature the Grammy award winning group, The Manhattan Transfer. More details are on our website!
