Architecture

Grades 1—3

In this clay class, students will learn about basic architectural elements such as arches, domes, columns and more. They will design and create model buildings in order to fabricate their own village, town, farm, etc. Come build an imaginary world in clay!

Monsters!

Grades 1—3

Monsters, monsters everywhere! In this class we will explore the fun and imaginative world of monsters through a series of two dimensional and three dimensional art activities. At the end of the week, students will have a collection of projects with octopus arms, googly eyes, blue fur, ferocious claws and anything else you might imagine.

Wax to Bronze

Grades 3-6
M—F, 1—4 p.m.

Over 5000 years old, the “lost wax” bronze casting process is still prized for its ability to achieve fine detail. This class offers students an introduction to this process, as well as a variety of other sculpting methods and materials. Each student has the opportunity to create an original small sculpture in wax and then we will have it cast in bronze at a professional foundry. Students will be working with hot wax and a variety of sculpting tools. Tuition includes 1.5 lbs of bronze, the casting and finish work, for one small bronze sculpture. There will be an additional fee for artworks weighing over 1.5 lbs. Families will be notified when artworks are ready for pick-up.

Fashion Fundamentals: From Drawing to 3D

Grades 6—12
M—F, 9 a.m.—Noon

Love to think about and design your own fashions? This class is perfect for anyone interested in seeing their clothing and accessories drawn to reflect their own unique, creative style. Students will learn to draw the average figure and the fashion figure. Then we will play with drawing textures of a variety of fabrics; from denim to sheers to lace. Students will collage their creations and host a ”reverse” runway show at the end of the week. Start saving your fashion magazines now!
