Opening Reception, Exhibit and Movie, FREE!Marc Chagall and the Bible: Etchings and Lithographs from the Wayne F. Yakes Collection
Noted for his fanciful, extravagant paintings of scenes from the Jewish world of his youth, Chagall’s work is often regarded as mysterious and hallucinatory. His illustrations for the Hebrew Bible are both richly imagined and soberly straightforward. His biblically-inspired art stands as a record of his own soul-searching – his own quest for religious meaning and understanding. These magnificent works inspire us to undertake that journey for ourselves.
