Two impoverished brothers in 1960s Poland are drawn into a neo-Nazi gang. When they are caught vandalizing a Jewish neighborhood, their mother is distraught. Only then does she reveal her hidden past. Determined to build a new and better life for her boys, she decides they must leave Poland. Due to her youngest son’s obsession with Australia, she leads them to believe that is where they will start a new life. It is not until they are well into their journey that the boys discover they are headed in a different direction.
