Mission Statement
The MACC illuminates the human experience through creative and cultural programs in the performing, visual and literary arts for the Jewish community and the Denver community at large. We strive to produce, present, exhibit, preserve and advance the arts, serving as a performance and exhibition venue, as well as an educational resource for people at every stage of life.
The Mizel Name
Both the Mizel Arts & Culture Center and the Mizel Museum are named after local philanthropist/businessman Larry Mizel. As such, our institutions are commonly mistaken for one another. The Mizel Museum is a wonderful organization, but totally separate from the MACC. The Museum operates several sites and focuses on exhibitions, as well as diversity and tolerance programs. The MACC recently changed our official name from the Mizel Center for Arts and Culture to the Mizel Arts & Culture Center. Our hope is that the use of our new acronym “MACC” will help patrons to better distinguish our programs with those of the Mizel Museum.
- Singer Art Gallery: 4–5 major visual art exhibitions per year.
- Leah Cohen Festival of Jewish Books and Authors: A three-week festival in November & December that includes book sales and author lectures. In 2007, the author series includes seven writers on national tours and three from our own community.
- BNY Mellon Wealth Management Denver Jewish Film Festival: A 10-day festival in February featuring contemporary films exploring Jewish themes.
- Denver Children’s Theatre: Adult actors performing for children in a season running from February through May for school and public audiences. Hands-on theatre workshops are also available for students. This year’s production, Sleeping Beauty, is a new adaptation of the classic fairy tale and will open on February 28, 2008.
- Wolf Theatre Academy: Theatre classes and productions for student performers.
- Art Academy: Visual arts and pottery classes for adults (year round) and children (summer only).

Center Membership Required for Class Registration
Students enrolling in any class at the Mizel Arts & Culture Center must hold a JCC (Chai) membership. This membership enables patrons and their families to register for many classes and programs throughout the JCC/MACC community. This annual membership ($56 family/$38 individual/$20 senior) covers administrative costs and includes updates and information regarding programs at the center. Students under 18 are included in the family membership cost. Download a Chai Membership Form here.
Scientific and Cultural Facilities District (SCFD)
The Mizel Center for Arts and Culture is a Tier II member of the Scientific and Cultural Facilities District (SCFD). The SCFD is metro Denver's unique commitment to its art, cultural and scientific institutions. A penny sales tax for every $10 purchase in the seven Denver metro counties goes to support almost 400 non-profit organizations, from the smallest community groups to the largest regional institutions.
